Kementerian Pertanian melalui Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Pertanian (BPPSDMP) kembali menggelar Pelatihan Sejuta Petani dan Penyuluh Volume 6 Tahun 2023 dengan tema “Antisipasi Pertanian Menghadapi El Nino”.
Koranbanjarmasin.net – Pelatihan ini akan berlangsung tiga hari, dan akan dibuka secara resmi oleh Menteri Pertanian (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo pada tanggal 23 Mei 2023 mendatang di Balai Besar Pelatihan Pertanian Lembang (BBPP Lembang).
Sebelumnya, Mentan Syahrul meminta para penyuluh untuk menjadi pejuang dan garda terdepan dalam meningkatkan produktivitas di saat musim kemarau panjang atau El Nino 2023.
Saat ini, kata dia, Kementan menyiapkan berbagai langkah antisipasi dan mitigasi dalam menghadapi El Nino. Di antaranya program Asuransi Usaha Tani Padi (AUTP) yang disiapkan untuk petani agar terhindar dari kerugian bila terjadi gagal panen.
“Kita juga siapkan pembangunan infrastruktur pengairan, seperti embung/waduk, rehabilitasi irigasi tersier, pipanisasi, pompanisasi, hingga hibah pompa air di daerah rawan kekeringan,” kata dia.
Kementan juga, lanjut dia, menyediakan akses permodalan melalui Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR). “Kemudian memperkokoh produksi kita dengan benih unggul dan pengembangan pupuk organik,” ujar dia.
Sementara itu, Kepala BPPSDMP, Dedi Nursyamsi mengatakan, El Nino merupakan fenomena alam yang tidak bisa dicegah dan dihindari. Meski begitu, El Nino harus tetap dihadapi dengan tenang, sabar, dan penuh semangat agar produksi pertani tidak terlalu terdampak.
“Fenomena El Nino pasti akan berdampak signifikan terhadap sektor pertanian, apalagi kalau kita tidak antisipasi, apalagi kalau kita tidak ada upaya-upaya untuk melakukan mitigasi dan adaptasi,” kata Dedi di Jakarta, Rabu (17/5/2023).
Dedi mengatakan, El Nino wajib hukumnya diantisipasi dan dimitigasi. Caranya adalah petani, para praktisi pertanian, dan seluruh stakeholder pertanian harus mengerti dan memahami apa itu El Nino dan apa dampaknya terhadap sektor pertanian.
Dengan mengerti dan memahami El Nino, lanjut dia, sektor pertanian akan tetap berdiri tegar.
“Oleh karena itu, saya minta kepada seluruh UPT untuk betul-betul mensupport habis-habisan kegiatan ini. Karena kegiatan ini penting bagaimana petani dapa memahami dan mengerti apa yang harus dilakukan untuk menghadapi El Nino,” imbuh Dedi. (JK/AG/koranbanjarmasin.net)
